Some Facts and Fiction…
Facts:
- Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines the most effective elements of SFBT, CBT, NLP and Psychotherapy, with Hypnosis (trance) to bring about long-lasting positive changes. Rather than looking back to the past, it focuses on the present, utilising your existing strengths and potential, leading to meaningful results.
- You are fully aware of what is going on around you during hypnosis and are in full control at all times. Trance is very ordinary, and we do it all the time. It is like daydreaming, when your mind wanders off and shifts from an external to an internal focus. We do it when watching television, running, at the gym, concentrating, and even when driving a regular route.
- Hypnosis feels like guided relaxation; it is a deeply calm state where the conscious and subconscious minds come together in focus. It enables the subconscious mind to make the positive changes needed for you to reach your goals.
- As Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on neuroscience, you will learn lots about how your brain works, which clients find particularly useful and interesting. The phrase ‘knowledge is power’ is particularly relevant for helping you to positively change the neuroplasticity of your brain.
Fiction:
- I can’t make you say or do something you don’t want to do!
- I won’t be asking you to stare into my eyes or swing a watch across your face.
- Hypnotherapy is not a magic cure. I can’t help you if you are not willing or ready to make positive changes.
- I don’t need to continue to see you after our sessions have ended. By having a greater understanding of how the brain works in relation to your specific concern(s), you will have the knowledge to self-manage your mind more effectively in the future. Most clients never see me again; some clients prefer to have the odd top-up session or see me monthly for a short period of time. You choose what works best for you.
